Schlitterbahn Waterparks Making Waves with AltiGen’s VoIP Phone System

Largest Waterpark Operator in the United States puts AltiGen Communications solutions to work

Fremont , California , May 22, 2006 — AltiGen® Communications, Inc. a pioneering manufacturer of VoIP business phone systems and call center solutions announced today that Schlitterbahn Waterparks, an independent, fast-growing owner of waterparks and hotels, has selected AltiGen's AltiContact Manager VoIP Phone System and Call Center solutions for five of its locations. Since implementing AltiGen's VoIP technology Schlitterbahn has realized significant business benefits including greatly reduced monthly call and maintenance costs, enhanced unified communications between office sites, full functionality of a feature-rich call center, and increased productivity for Schlitterbahn Waterparks.

As the largest waterpark operator in the United States was expanding into Galveston , Texas this spring, with further plans to move into Kansas City in the near future, Schlitterbahn knew its existing phone system was not up for the task. The Company was plagued with excessive maintenance costs for its proprietary system and even making small changes meant waiting days for the vendor to show up. In addition, the Company sorely lacked all the call center capabilities a growing company requires.

Schlitterbahn is a company that designs and builds its own rides, and this do-it-ourselves spirit carried over to the search for a flexible, extensible, and affordable phone system. “We were stuck paying a humongous amount of money every year for a phone system that did very little for us,” recalls Leigh Murphy, Director of Information Systems.

Schlitterbahn Waterparks looked to Telcomtex Communications, a local value added AltiGen Reseller and chose to install AltiGen's AltiContact Manager VoIP Phone System and Call Center . “With little or no disruption to our ongoing operations, the new system was installed and rolled it out to 580 extensions at both our hotels and throughout the parks as well as at our corporate center in five days,” said Chris Reynolds, IT Manager. “The AltiContact Manager phone system will pay for itself in less than two years, and that's not counting all the productivity and improved customer service we are gaining.”

Schlitterbahn now has a system that ties all the locations together over IP. Plus, the IT staff can add agents, move extensions, or add features easily— regardless of where they are working that day. With the vast majority of Schlitterbahn's staff working in the field, the new system has been configured to automatically ring mobile employees on their cell phones via AltiGen's ExtensionAnywhere™ feature.

The Company's hotel reservation group became a bona fide call center overnight. With AltiGen, they are able to monitor calls with customer s, and can produce reports on average wait times, calls abandoned, average times to service calls, and all the other features and functions of an efficient call center. The Schlitterbahn call center team also has far better tools for projecting peak calling loads in order to better allocate staff and, more importantly, better serve customer s.
